Wall Street Gains and Oil Drop Propel Asian Markets Upward

Asian stock markets experienced gains on Friday, buoyed by a strong performance on Wall Street and a decrease in oil prices. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng both rose by 0.8%, while South Korea’s Kospi surged 2.1%. The Shanghai Composite and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 saw more modest increases, climbing nearly 0.8% and 0.1%, respectively.

These advances followed a robust session in the U.S., where the S&P 500 climbed 1.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.7%. The drop in oil prices provided some relief to financial markets, with Brent crude decreasing by 0.68% to $104.11 per barrel and U.S. crude declining 0.54% to $101.36 per barrel.

Investors are also adjusting to the Federal Reserve’s recent decision to increase its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points, with the possibility of another hike later this year as part of efforts to control inflation. The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note fell to 4.93% from 5.01%, which helped alleviate pressure on equities.

In the currency markets, the U.S. dollar showed a slight strengthening against the Japanese yen, reaching 156.15 yen. Meanwhile, the euro maintained its value at $1.1480, reflecting stable conditions in currency trading amid broader market fluctuations.
