Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation and deepen their strategic partnership. The meeting, held in Tokyo, focused on various areas of collaboration, including economic development and infrastructure projects.
During the discussions, Prime Minister Takaichi expressed her appreciation for Mongolia’s support of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific and highlighted Japan’s eagerness to further develop cooperative ties with Mongolia. In response, Prime Minister Uchral reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to strengthening relations with Japan, emphasizing it as a priority for the country’s foreign policy.
A key highlight of the meeting was the signing of an agreement concerning Japan’s assistance in expanding Chinggis Khaan International Airport. This project aims to enhance Mongolia’s international connectivity and is a testament to the ongoing infrastructure collaboration between the two nations.
In recent years, Japan and Mongolia have intensified their bilateral relationship. In 2022, the two countries elevated their ties to a “special strategic partnership for peace and prosperity,” underscoring their mutual commitment to closer cooperation.
