Reagan foundation says Canadian ad ‘misrepresents’ speech

The Ronald Reagan  Presidential Foundation has publicly stated that a Canadian  ad “misrepresents” the former president’s 1987 comments on trade. The ad has since led to a “termination” of us-Canada trade talks.

The foundation posted on x that the ad, from Ontario, used “selective audio” from the speech and that no permission was sought. They are “reviewing legal options.”

President Donald Trump cited the foundation’s criticism in his own post. He called the ad “fraudulent” and “fake.”

He then announced an immediate end to all trade negotiations with Canada, accusing the country of “egregious behavior” and interference.

The ad was launched by Ontario premier  Doug Ford to protest 35% US tariffs on Canadian  goods. The halt in talks, confirmed by secretary of state Marco Rubio, now threatens billions in daily trade.
